The Trial is a modern rewriting of Franz Kafka's 1915 book "Der Prozeß" (translated into English as "The Trial"), retold from the setting of a sub-tropical town in Australia. The goal for the cover was to capture a faithful depiction of the protagonist, while referencing Edvard Munch’s The Scream. A combination of generative AI and hand illustrated elements were utilised to achieve this outcome.
